CLAT Exam Eligibility Criteria 2022: Age Limit, Educational Qualification

CLAT admissions will be handled differently for NRI applicants. These candidates will be admitted to each university or college using the NRI quota. NRI candidates should contact the educational institution directly to inquire about the eligibility requirements. The following are the eligibility requirements:

Undergraduates COURSES

Senior Secondary School/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognized Institution with a cumulative grade point average of at least 45 percent (40 percent in case of SC and ST candidates). The test does not have an upper age limit.

Post-Graduate Courses

LL. B/B. L. Degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate grade of 50% (45 percent in case of SC and ST candidates). Candidates who've already completed the qualifying degree exam through supplementary/ compartment and multiple attempts are also permitted to take the test and receive admission, but they must show proof of passing the qualifying exam with fifty-five/fifty % marks, as the case may be.

The candidate must have passed the 5-year integrated or 3-year LLB exam.

SC/ST - 40%

Age limit

No upper age limit has been prescribed for UG courses.

There is no upper age limit for admission to PG courses.

CLAT Exam Eligibility Criteria for NRI students

Candidates in the NRI category, as well as NRI-sponsored candidates, can apply through the NRI quota. The appropriate universities will carry out the admissions based on the CLAT merit list.

The documents required by the NRI candidates at the time of admission are as follows.

  • Copy of candidate's valid Indian passport
  • Copy of visas obtained in the 12 months preceding
  • An NRI/ OCI or PIO certificate issued by the local embassy.

The documents required by the NRI sponsored candidates at the time of admission are as follows:

  • Copy of the sponsor's valid Indian passport
  • Copy of visas obtained by the sponsor in the preceding 12 months
  • An NRI/OCI or PIO certificate issued to the sponsor by the local embassy
  • An affidavit stating the sponsor's interest in the educational affairs of the candidate, and a willingness to sponsor their education for the next five years

NRI Sponsor Requirements

NRI sponsors have to keep the following points in mind before applying for CLAT 2022:

  • The sponsor has to be a first-degree relative to the candidate.
  • The sponsor has to reside abroad as a non-resident Indian.
  • If the candidate has no parents or near relatives, the candidate needs to be a legal ward of the sponsor.
  • The sponsor needs to submit an affidavit stating his/her/their interest in the educational affairs of the candidate and a willingness to sponsor their education for the next five years.
